How long is the school day?

  • 2.5 hours a day, 5 days a week
  • 8:30 am to 11:00 am
  • 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm

Do you have transportation for my child?

  • Yes, the district has given all ELC students the opportunity to take a bus.
  • The bus would be aligned to and from a location within district boundaries.
  • The location would need to be the same to and from school.

Do the students wear uniforms?

  • No uniforms are required.

Do the students have to be toilet trained?

  • No, your child does not need to be toilet trained to start into programming.

How old does my child need to be to start school at ELC?

  • 3 years old

If I register for school does that mean my child is automatically in the Crete-Monee Early Learning Center program?

  • No, your child will need to go through the screening process.

How do I start the screening process?

What does the screening process involve?

  • The screening process includes registration, a parent questionnaire, parent interview, ASQ and ASQ SE assessment checklists.  After all documents are completed, a team member will contact you to review your child's results and determine placement or next steps.

What supplies do the students need?

  • Your child will need a backpack large enough to fit a folder and a full set of extra clothes (no wheels)
  • The teacher may provide a wish list, but these items are strictly voluntary.

Do you provide services for students?

  • Yes, we have all services accessible depending on student needs.

Does your school provide meals?

  • We serve milk and a snack for our half day students.

What is the difference between daycare and ELC?

  • ELC is a play based program that focuses on building student skills to prepare them for Kindergarten.  This program has built-in strategies to allow for a smooth transition into your child's next steps in the district and provides services as needed by your child.  All staff are certified and the program utilizes state approved curriculum and assessments to meet the needs of all students.
